Using Facebook to promote your business!
Facebook & Twitter have become the new "word of mouth", are you utilizing them to market and grow your homebased business? I remember learning in marketing class (ages ago in college) that customer service was sooo important because a dissatisfied customer would tell close to 20 people , but a satisfied customer would on average tell fewer people, but these quality referrals are what would help build la strong, loyal clientele.
With the advent of Facebook and Twitter, the potential for damage, or rave reviews has been multiplied greatly!! It spreads far beyond your personal circle of family and friends. Even I am guilty of trying things that my friends comment on as "great" on their pages and later sharing that product or business with my own friends too! People have hundreds of friends who have access to view their posts, which could ultimately help, or hurt your business reputation.
Are you wondering how you can spur your business's social media presence? Some companies have jumped on the bandwagon and have done it in such a great way that we can all learn from. Posting pics of smiling, satisfied customers with their products, in their business location, or wearing branded clothing to promote the business name is common place now, and come on-who doesn't love seeing pics of themselves! Lol
Other companies are offering giveaways to encourage likes or shares that get the word out even more! For a small investment in a prize, you can get a mass of people willing to pass on your info to their hundreds of friends!! Companies are even working together requiring "likes" for all of their pages in exchange for you to gain additional entries for the giveaway. Network and partner up with other businesses looking to gain social media "likes".
This new word of mouth also means that you can target an exact demographic to grow your business. What would the technology of social media be without this enticing lure? It should be no surprise that as much info as these sites track, they are able to pinpoint potential customers fairly well. It's like taking the big advertising world and shrinking it down to a manageable size for those of us that work at home! For as little as $5 for example, a business owner can promote an interesting post to people they would never otherwise have been able to reach.
My advice to you? Take advantage of this opportunity to promote to the masses, but be smart about it...keeping folks happy & turning them into returning customers is key!
