Vestal Review, 2609 Dartmouth Drive, Vestal, NY 13850. Email:
submissions-at-vestalreview.net. Website: http://www.vestalreview.net/. Mark Budman, Publisher/Editor/Webmaster; Sue O'Neill, Co-Editor; MaryAnne McCollister, Senior Associate Editor; Cheryl Chambers, Ania Vesenny and Antonios Maltezos, Associate Editors. "Vestal Review is a semi-annual perfect-bound print magazine with a Web presence, devoted to what we consider an underrepresented type of fiction: flash (or short-short) stories. A good flash, replete with a cohesive plot, rich language and enticing imagery, is perhaps the hardest type of fiction to write. A good flash is so condensed that it borderlines poetry. A good flash engages your mind not only for the short duration of its read, but for a long time after." 100% freelance. Welcomes new writers. Two issues/year. Pays after publication. Publishes ms approx. 6 months after acceptance. Buys First NA serial rights. No reprints. Responds 3 days. Sample copy is $10 (add $2 for postage, $4 for foreign address). "Please make checks payable to Mark Budman or American Design Services. Please do not make checks to Vestal Review. We can't cash them. Send print subscription requests to 2609 Dartmouth Drive, Vestal, NY 13850. One year subscription (2 issues) is $20 postage paid (add $6 postage for foreign subscription). A sample copy is $10 (add $2 for postage, $4 for foreign address). Please make checks payable to Mark Budman. Please do not make checks to Vestal Review. We can't cash them." Guidelines online at http://www.vestalreview.net/Guidelines.html.
CURRENT NEEDS: "Vestal Review is a magazine for flash (short-shorts) fiction. We realize that there are different definitions of what a flash story is and all of them have merit. In our definition, a flash story is no longer than 500 words and it has a plot. If it's longer than 500 words and/or has no plot, we are not interested. We are also not interested in porn, racial slurs, excessive gore, or obscenity. On the other end of the spectrum, no children's or preachy stories either, please. Our target audience is people over 18, so R-rated content is OK, but not X-rated. Most genres, other than children's, syrupy romance or hard science fiction, are accepted, and we love humor. Pay: Stories up to 100 words (excluding the title)--$0.10/word. Stories between 101 and 200 words--$0.05/word. Stories between 201 and 500 words-- $0.03/word. Stories of great merit receive up to $25 flat fee; $0.03/word is a minimum pay in any case. Use our submission manager: http://vestalreview.submishmash.com/Submit"
HINTS: "Please follow our guidelines."

Website: http://www.windsorreview.wordpress.com/. Marty Gervais, General Editor; Susan Holbrook, Poetry Editor; Alistair MacLeod, Fiction Editor; Alex McKay, Art Editor. 100% freelance. "The Windsor ReView is dedicated to publishing previously unpublished poetry and short stories by new and established authors." Welcomes new writers. Bi-annual. Pays on publication. Publishes ms approximately six months after acceptance. Buys one-time rights. No reprints. Responds within 2-3 months during the school year. "One submission per reading period per contributor."
