Your Home Office

So I'm toying with the idea of moving my work at home office. I have a few places that I'm thinking of, but the key is that I don't want to dedicate a whole room to my office. That means time for some creativity and ingenuity, but I'm hitting a wall!  I know in my previous home, it seemed as though every ounce of space had to be calculated. When I began working from home, I had to be creative in finding a spot for my office, and I was crafty in using every available niche. If you can't spare the space, I've found that finding spaces to do double duty can be your answer!
1. An office in the guestroom closet
2.Setting up an armoir with the computer monitor doubling as the movie screen in a playroom
3. Only have the main living area? What about using heavy curtains for privacy, and a little sound barrier? The great part is that the curtains can be decorative to match your decor.  They can be moved back when you aren't working, or left closed to keep your work from being visible, or a temptation for little ones!
4. The makeshift office that sets up wherever you want. A laptop that you can use to work anywhere in your home may make more sense than a standard desktop that takes up valuable space.

So I've been looking on Facebook for some of the bigger work at home employers and I've been able to find a few!  It's interesting to read how long/short the hiring process was, the amount of work and if employees are happy there. It's a rare opportunity to look inside and ask questions before deciding to apply.  I've been working to locate these for you because these social media pages give you the opportunity to get the opinions of employees, ask questions BEFORE you apply, and reach out to the employer, employees and even other applicants.  If you have Facebook access, look up the following employers:

We've listed companies that hire at home staff in previous blogs, but I get emails frequently asking for links and ideas. I decided to add a permanent page of link to WAH employers! You may have noticed the added section.  I will add to the list little by little as I verify that companies still employ an at home workforce, but there are a few links already there to get you started. I'm trying not to add the employers that only employ 1 or 2 wah staff members at a time, but instead, the ones that have numerous openings. Click the WAH Employer tab at the top of the page to view the companies. Please remember to not flood these employers with phone calls asking what they are hiring for. You can absolutely submit your resume after reviewing sites, but most of these employers will update their sites with their openings, or post a notice when mass hiring periods so be sure to watch the career pages.
