The Cost Of Going To Work

Sitting down with a friend who was laid off a month ago, she was in quite a state of worry about future finances.  I absolutely hate to see anyone, much less a friend, going through stress like this! To make a long story short, she has been racking her brain trying to figure out how on earth her family will survive without her income, if she doesn't find a job after her unemployment runs out. She swears that living off of her hubby's income and dipping into savings occasionally will not carry them for long.

All that was coming to mind for her was the rising prices of gas, daycare, food, bills. To calm her fears, I reminded her that although some bills stay the same regardless of your income, some can be decreased or even eliminated if she doesn't work outside of the home! Decreased gas bills, no daycare costs, no lunches out, not having to purchase work attire...the list goes on. I referred her to an article called :The Cost of Working Is It Worth It? By

Click on the article title to link to the story and maybe it will calm your fears or provide a little insight into the benefits of not working a traditional job outside of the home.  I know this article looks at working vs not working, but try and look at it as working inside the home vs outside the home.
